Whitney Plantation (Wallace, LA)
and
St. Joseph Plantation (Vacherie, LA)
$220.00 (includes roundtrip fare, tour admissions, lodging and dinner) Per Person, Double Occupancy and Hot Complimentary Continental Breakfast.
Day 1: Depart HCC Parking Lot 9 in video and restroom equipped motor coach, enjoying the great scenery along the way. The Whitney Plantation Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places. Whitney Plantation is a genuine landmark built by African slaves and their descendants. As a site of memory and consciousness, the Whitney Plantation Museum is meant to pay homage to all slaves on the plantation itself and to all of those who lived elsewhere in the US South. Upon arrival you will visit the Gift Shop; then take a 90-minute tour of Whitney Plantation. After the tour, you will sit under the trees to dialogue about what you have seen and explore your feelings before you depart for a one-night stay at the hotel. This evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner at your hotel.
Day 2: After enjoying a continental breakfast, begin your day with St. Joseph Plantation. At St. Joseph Plantation, view the renovated slave cabins as well as Creole Cottages, detached kitchen, barns, chicken coops, blacksmith shop carpenter shop and other dependencies necessary to sustain life during these early years. After the tour you will sit in the picnic area…a perfect time to review your trip and dialogue about all the historical sights before departing for home.
