Departure: 6:30 AM, Alabama & Crawford, HCC Parking Lot 14
Return: Sunday, ~7:00 PM
$299 Per Person, Double Occupancy (includes roundtrip fare, tour admissions, lodging, snacks on the bus and dinner)
Day 1: Depart, HCC Parking Lot 14, on a video WIFI and restroom equipped motor coach, enjoying the great scenery along the way. Our first tour will be St. Joseph Plantation, a sugar cane plantation. Currently, the third season of Oprah Winfrey’s Queen Sugar is being filmed there. Our next stop is Laura Plantation, a Creole Plantation. Conclude the evening with dinner and relaxing.
Day 2: After enjoying a continental breakfast, begin your day with Whitney Plantation. Whitney Plantation is a genuine landmark built by enslaved Africans and their descendants. As a site of memory and consciousness, the Whitney Plantation Museum is meant to pay homage to all enslaved people on the plantation itself and to all of those who lived elsewhere in the US South. We will have a guided 90-minute tour of Whitney Plantation. After the tour, you will sit in the picnic area …a perfect time to review your trip and dialogue about all the historical sights before departing for home.
Registration has been extended to February 15, 2020.
