By collecting soil from bondage sites nationwide this historic initiative honors enslaved individuals whose death went unrecognized. The preserved soil will be placed in the Transatlantic Tomb of the Unknown Slave at the World Colonization Memorial in Fort Bend and commemorated annually with a wreath-laying tribute.
